FROM YOUR EDITOR:

GOD IS GOOD!  ALL THE TIME!

ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!

I hope you are enjoying your summer.  It’s been hot.  It’s been rainy.  It’s been cool.  But we have so much to be thankful for.  We have fans and air conditioning to keep us cool.  We have homes to live in which keep us dry.  We have sweaters to put on when it’s a cool day.  We have food to put in our stomachs.  We have clean water to drink when we are thirsty.   We have friends who encourage us.  We are still the most blessed nation in the world.   Most of all we have our salvation which was bought with a price beyond measure.   I could go on and on.  I am just so thankful for all of the blessings God pours out on me each day.  You are part of my blessings.  I am thankful for each of you and that our paths in life have crossed.  I pray that you are filled so much with God’s love and that you are spreading it around.
There are a lot of opportunities listed in this newsletter that will bless your soul if you take advantage of them.  The church is SO much more than what happens in the sanctuary on Sunday morning.  It is other things going on during the week, too,  that help build us up and encourage us and help us love each other more, and share each other’s burdens.
SO….PLEASE, don’t just read this newsletter and put it aside. RIGHT NOW, write events on your calendar.  Then participate as much as you can!  YOU WILL BE BLESSED FOR YOUR EFFORT.

A friend of mine shared this thought with me this week.  I thought it was so beautiful that I wanted to pass it on to you.  I’m sure I’m not quoting her exactly, but give it some thought.—Gloria

The Bible refers to the church as the “body of Christ,” and a body is a wonderful representation.  But think of the church as an orchestra.  Every instrument is different, works in different ways, makes different sounds, even has different music to follow.  When the orchestra is tuning up the sound is a cacophony of noise, not pleasant to listen to at all.  But when the conductor, Jesus Christ, brings it all together and directs each one to do his part, then it becomes a symphony.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE:

The light turned yellow just in front of him.  He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgaiting woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer.  The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.
He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed and placed in a holding cell.
After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door.  She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.
He said, “I’m very sorry for this mistake.  You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him.  I noticed the ‘What Would Jesus Do’ bumper sticker, the ‘Choose Life’ license plate holder, the ‘Follow Me to Sunday School’ bumper sticker and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car.”

If Jesus is about anything, it’s the inconvenient truth that a spiritual life is a physical life.” - Sarah Miles
